Blessed Mary Teresa Ledochowska was born in Austria to a Polish count and his Swiss wife. She gave up her position as lady-in-waiting to a Tuscan grand duchess to devote her literary and organizational skills to the African missions and anti-slavery movement. In 1894 she founded the Institute of the Sisters of St. Peter Claver, which was formally approved in 1899. Blessed Mary Teresa Ledochowska, pray for us!
