Saint André Bessette

The humble doorkeeper at Notre Dame College in Montreal, Canada, André Bessette, developed a devotion to Saint Joseph as a child and carried it into his adulthood. Brother André was moved to compassion when he heard of someone’s illness, and he would visit and pray with the suffering person, often rubbing lamp oil from the college chapel on the afflicted. Whispers of healing powers began to spread. Brother André insisted, “I do not cure. Saint Joseph cures.” André Bessette was beatified in 1982 and canonized in 2010. Saint André Bessette, pray for us.
