Saints Perpetua and Felicity are two well-known names among the martyrs of the early Church. While we don’t know much about them, Saint Perpetua recorded their last days in her diary. Despite threats of persecution and death, Perpetua, Felicity–a slave woman and expectant mother–and three companions, Revocatus, Secundulus, and Saturninus refused to renounce their Christian faith. As a result, all were sent to the public games in the amphitheater. A few days before the games began, Felicity gave birth to a daughter. When the games began, Perpetua and Felicity were beheaded, and the others were killed by beasts.
