Solemnity of Saint Joseph, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Today, we celebrate Saint Joseph, husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the foster-father of Jesus. In the Gospel of Matthew, he is described as a “righteous man” (1:19). As head of the Holy Family, he also is the Pure Guardian of the Virgin, Provider for the Son of God, Guardian of the Redeemer, Zealous defender of Christ, and Servant of Christ. Joseph is joyfully obedient to God, and because of his humility, he is the Terror of Demons.
